AHI MANUALS APP
In January 2015, AHI released an app allowing students attending training classes to download the training material onto an Android tablet.
Build an eReader-like app that can support interactive content and keep the content secure and encrypted.
This project spanned September 2014 to December 2015. The project was split into two sub-projects. The first stage involved development of the app for Android tablets to act as a content viewer with built-in navigation and features. During this stage, I supervised the vendor which developed the app and also performed user testing and debugging over several iterations of the app.
In the second stage, we created an InDesign template and layout for the content. I developed and designed the InDesign template myself and created a style guide for the content.
I believe that it is important to create style guides in order to preserve consistency throughout a project. These can be as simple or as detailed as a project requires.
The app allows students attending training at Airbus Helicopters to download all training material onto a tablet eliminating the need for traditional paper training manuals. The use of tablets and the development of the app have led to significant savings over the cost of traditional printed paper manuals.
